Rawa Biru (Blue swamp)/Wasur reserve located in the Merauke region of Papua, the farthest town in the east of Indonesia. Giant termite mounds, long-grass, paper bark trees, acacia, and eucalyptus, much like Australia. The waters shelter crocodiles and the curious dugong, and birds are cockatoos, parrots, crowned pigeons, and the fierce cassowary. Native wallabies and the deer (rusa) introduced in 1913, thrive in the area. The reserve is 60 kilometers (37 mile) from Merauke and the best way to get there is by jeep during the dry season.

Pristine and wild, Blue Swamp/Wasur is the perfect reflection of mother nature’s inner soul.

WASUR NATIONAL PARK EXPLORE

Day 01 : JAYAPURA
Upon arrival in Jayapura (the capital city of Papua) – transfer to your hotel. Overnight. (D)

Day 02 : JAYAPURA - MERAUKE - WASUR
Fly to Merauke (approx. 1 hour) – touring around Merauke and continue to Wasur with jeep going through the dusty and rocky off road trans Papua. Overnight in guest house or tent. (B,L,D)

Day 03 : WASUR NATIONAL PARK EXPLORE
Full day exploration Wasur reserve. Canoeing, animal observation, and bird watching. Visiting the villages of native’s Kanum tribes and Marind tribes. Overnight in local’s house. (B,L,D)

Day 04 : WASUR - BLUE SWAMP - KONDO
Exploring Wasur reserve and slightly move to Rawa Biru (Blue swamp). Crossing the land toward to Kondo area. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)

Day 05 : KONDO - ONGGAYA - MERAUKE
Going back to Merauke with jeep via Kondo – Tomer – Onggaya and Ndalir. Overnight in Merauke (simple lodge). (B,L,D)

Day 06 : MERAUKE - JAYAPURA
Fly from Merauke to Jayapura. Trip ends. (B)
