MOUNT RINJANI AND MOUNT TAMBORA TREKKING
Duration: 11 DAYS / 10 NIGHTS
START/FINISH: SENGGIGI/MATARAM

Day 01 : AIRPORT/SENGGIGI - SENARU
You will be picked up by our guide from the airport or your hotel in Senggigi and drop you to Senaru north of Lombok for two hours drive the gateway to Gunung Rinjani National Park. Upon arrival in the traditional village of Senaru you will be greeted in the Sasak manner by the community. Stay overnight at the village. Local food will be served for dinner. (D)

ImageDay 02 : SENARU - PELAWANGAN SENARU
After a light breakfast and another blessing from the Melokaq, proceed to Rinjani Trek Center for the trek briefing. The first hours of the route climbs through thick tropical forest, rich in flora and fauna such as orchids, the long-tailed and grey macaque monkeys and if lucky the rare black ebony leaf monkey know locally as lutung. Rest stops are taken along the way. At Post 2 Montong Satas shelter (1,500m). The lunch stop Post 3 Mondokan Lokaq (2,000) is reached after about five hours  climb through the forest from Senaru. After a rest, continue the ascent for another couple hours through grassy meadows to Pelawangan Senaru, the crater rim at 2,641m. The breathtaking views sweep across to Bali and Mount Agung. Below you is the lake Segara Anak (2,00m) within Rinjani's crater and small cone of Mount Baru (2,351m) an active volcano that last erupted dramatically in 1994. Enjoy your dinner, the fantastic star - scape and overnight at Pelawangan Senaru. (B,L,D)

Day 03 : PELAWANGAN SENARU - PELAWANGAN SEMBALUN
After breakfast, Melokaq will make the traditional prays and offerings at the crater rim before two hours steep descent down to the lake Segara Anak. Enjoy the views, relax, swim in the lake, and explore the caves and the hot springs. Lunch will be by the lake. In the afternoon, depart and climb for three hours on the step ascent to Pelawangan Sembalun campsite on the crater rim, enjoying dinner and the night sound. (B,L,D)

ImageDay 04 : PELAWANGAN SEMBALUN - SUMMIT - SEMBALUN LAWANG
At 3 am start is necessary for the hard three hours climb to summit (3,726m ). Once there, enjoy proud feelings of satisfaction and the amazing sunrise views (depending on weather conditions) across to Mount Agung on Bali and Mount Tambora on Sumbawa. At 6.30 am start the 1.5 hour descent for breakfast at Pelawangan Sembalun, looking out for edelweiss along the path. There is the possibility of seeing wildlife on the remote trail down from the Sembalun crater rim, through the pine-like Casuarina trees locally known as Cemara. After about three hours you will reach Pada Balong (1,800m) and on through savanna grasslands, used by local people for cattle grazing, to lunch at Tengengean (1,500m). After lunch, gently descend for through open country to Sembalun Lawang village (3  hours). The trek ends at the Rinjani Information Center at Sembalun Lawang village. Dinner and overnight at a Local guesthouse. (B,L,D) 

Day 05 : SEMBALUN LAWANG - SUMBAWA BESAR
After breakfast there is time for transfer to Sumbawa besar and we will, driving using east road of Lombok island and using ferry crossing to Potonano then drive to Sumbawa Besar and overnight in Kencana hotel  or Tambora in Sumbawa city. (B,L,D)

ImageDay 06 : SUMBAWA – MOYO – CALABAI – PANCASILA
After breakfast there is time to process sailing using traditional boat to Calabai, crossing Moyo island, Sebaru village and arrival in Calabai village, the sailing will be take 5 hours  and drive to Dusun Pancasila and overnight in village at Pancasila. (B,L,D)

 

Day 07 : PANCASILA – POS 3 TAMBORA
After breakfast starting for trekking cross rainforest jungle to Pos 3, this route sometimes have avoid with leechess,  trekking will be take 6-7 hours, if possible will continue trekking to Pos 4. Overnight at tent. (B,L,D)

ImageDay 08 : POS 3 – TAMBORA RIM AND SUMMIT
Very early morning trek to summit of mount Tambora with elevation 2815 m, the largest crater in the world, last eruption at 1815, dramatic sunrise on the top of Mount Tambora then back to Pos 3 for relaxing and overnight at Pos 3. (B,L,D)

 

Day 09 : POS 3 – PANCASILA – SATONDA – MOYO
After breakfast, clean up camp. Starting for back to Pancasila using same route, afternoon will be arrival in Pancasila then back to Calabai and sail to Satonda island. There is a lake on the island for relax or swimming, then we sail to Moyo (sebaru village) overnight at homestay with minimalist accomodation. (B,L,D)

ImageDay 10 : MOYO – SUMBAWA
In the morning sail to Sumbawa Besar, overnight in Sumbawa besar at Tambora hotel  or Kencana Beach Inn. (B,L,D)

 

 

 

Day 11 : SUMBAWA BESAR – MATARAM / AIRPORT
After breakfast start drive to Mataram – Lombok. After lunch, served at the local restaurant, you will be transfer by coach to your hotel or airport. (B,L)
