SUPER SUCK - SUMBAWA User Rating 5/5 : five star Type : Reef & point Reliability : consistent Best Swell : SW, Offshore Wind : ESE Duration: BY REQUEST Grade: CHALLENGE Super Suck in Sumbawa is a reasonably exposed reef and point break that usually has waves. May – Oct (dry season) is the optimum time of year for waves. The best wind direction is from the east southeast. Tends to receive distance groundswells and the best swell direction is from the southwest. There is a left breaking reef. When it’s working here, it can get crowded. Beware of urchins, rock and sharks. Super Suck, off the village of Malok about a half hour past the town of Taliwang, is the most famous and sought after wave on this rugged coast. Big walls of water break off a boil rock on the outside of the bay and suck up into a thick and heavy left that bowls and winds down the reef for a few hundred meters. Very hollow barrels with thick lips that can go fro hundreds of yards, but ends in a very shallow inside section. Best between 3-6 ft. Has been called the longest most intense tube ever ridden, only for experienced chargers.
