IMPOSSIBLES – THE BUKIT, BALI
User Rating 5/5 : five star
Type : Reef
Reliability : very consistent
Best Swell : SW, Offshore Wind : ESE
Duration: BY REQUEST
Grade: CHALLENGE

Impossible in Bali (the Bukit) is a quite exposed reef break that has very reliable surf. May – Oct (dry season) is the optimum time of year for waves. Offshore winds are from the east southeast. Clean groundswells prevail and the ideal swell direction is from southwest. A reef breaks left. Best around low tide. When it’s working here, it can get crowded. Rocks are a hazard. Impossibles can be one of the most photogenic waves on the planet. From up on the cliff or over in the Bingin warungs, sets rolling through Impossibles have the appearance of being some of the best waves on earth.

Impossibles is a difficult wave to predict. This wave when lining up good can be a very long and fast wave, usually when wave height gets above 5ft and the tide is mid range you can expect some very long waves. There are two main take off points at Impossibles, the top section and the bottom section. Generally the top section works better when it is smaller, and the bottom section will transform with a huge swell and a low tide. However, on the big days, Impossibles picks up a lot of swell, and surfers should take care to know how to get in with or without a board before they enter the water.
