MINANGKABAU AND SIBERUT CULTURE

Day 01 : PADANG – BUKITTINGGI
Upon your arrival at Padang airport, drive to Bukit Tinggi at Minangkabau highland. Stop by at Lembah Anai Nature Reserve to see the beauty of a nature spot. Before check into a hotel we visit Ngarai Sianok canyon and Japanese tunnel, Fort De Kock and Taman Bundo Kanduang.

Day 02 : AROUND BUKITTINGGI
After breakfast we go on a cultural trip around Minangkabau to Koto Gadang to watch the skilled silversmiths at work, producing beautiful silver jewelry. Then we continue to the west to stop by at Danau Maninjau the deep crater lake with beauty and serene of surrounding. Drive to the south visiting Pandai Sikat village, the center of weaving woodcarving then to Padang Panjang to stop by at center for information & documentation on Minangkabau culture. The highlight of the day is watching the bull race. End of the day we go to Harau canyon. Back to bukittinggi and overnite. (B)

Day 03 : BUKITTINGGI – PARIANGAN - BUKITTINGGI
In the morning we begin the trip by driving stright to Tanah Datar to observe the finest examples of traditional Minangkabau architecture, the Rumah Gadang. The rutes begin with visiting Batipuh then to Pariangan to see original first village of Minangkabau then to Tabek village with its traditional clan houses and oldest building in West Sumatra. Late afternoon return to Bukittinggi. (B)

Day 04 : BUKITTINGGI  – PADANG – SIBERUT ISLAND
Drive from Bukittinggi to Padang where we hire a small boat at the harbour, then sail to Siberut island. We arrive at the first stage, at a large family house (or Uma) of a Mentawai clan where we will stay for the next 2 days. Take a rest and meet the local people, the mentawai tribes. (B,L,D)

Day 05 : SIBERUT ISLAND
Exploring the island, watching the religious dancing, experince the culture of local people and meet the medicine man “Kirei” and accompany him on a hunt, while the ladies go fishing together. In the afternoon, we learn about the art of extracting sago and how loincloth is made. (B,L,D)

Day 06 : SIBERUT ISLAND  – PADANG
Early in the morning, we leave for Siberut island to Padang. On free program, you might be interested visiting Adityawarman museum in central town and shooping at Pasar Raya, or just sighseeing arround China town, taste the spicy flavor meals of Padang. Overnite at Padang. (B)

Day  07 : DEPART PADANG
Transfer you to the airport for your flight to your next destination. (B)
